Designing my own t-shirt

I love graphic t-shirts.  What I don’t love is the branding on them.  So I decided to make my own.  I went and got some men’s Hanes t-shirts and some Fabric markers.  I figured I would start with cheaper shirts to see how the process would go and to experiment. If all is well, I would buy better female t-shirts.  Here are the results of my first test:

DIY - 1st Tshirt
DIY - 1st Tshirt
DIY - 1st Tshirt

Lessons learned (so far):

  • The marker likes to catch on the fabric.  Would get fuzzies on the marker.
  • It’s going to be hard to make a crisp straight edge.  Will need to come up with a solution.

Next test: put some words on there.

DIY Flowers!

So after my DIY Headband, DIY Heat Pad (hrm, I shall make a post about this), I am now on DIY Flowers.  Here are some tutorials that I found and what I will be doing in the next few weeks:

Must head out to use craft store next weekend.

The great phone debate continues!

For the past 6 months, I’ve been contemplating on the whole phone and plan crap.

Here’s the stitch:

  • Husband is on Verizon Wireless.   And he doesn’t want Sprint.  His current plan costs around $80 with tax.
  • I’m on Sprint, currently on the SERO plan which is now deprecated and has been replaced with EPRP.
  • I NEED a new phone and I want Android
  • The debate:
    • Join Verizon with the hubby and get a family plan.  Looking at $120 for plan + $30 for data – 19% discount. Phone would most likely be Incredible.  So maybe $128, and then tack on $10 bucks tax is $138.
    • Upgrade to EPRP $59.99 + $10 data fee + $10 tax.  Phone will be EVO(maybe Hero?).   So Mark’s plan is $80 + my plan which is also $80.  So it’s $160.
  • I’ve heard arguments about:
    • Sprint vs Verizon
      • On Coverage
      • On Plans (what is included, etc, etc, etc)
    • Droid Incredible vs HTC EVO
  • My thoughts: Technology changes.  I want something that is affordable, reasonable, and reliable.  I want something that is easy to manage.  My hubby is in charge of bills!  And having numerous bills is a P.I.T.A.  The geek in me would love to get my grubby little hands on the EVO.  But the practical, no fuss-drama, lazy butt side of me says to go with Verizon.

Oh, Facebook. What are YOU doing?

Article: Facebook and “radical transparency” (a rant)

My thoughts: Word.

When on Facebook, or on any social platform, diligence and knowledge is key.   I remember the day that I caved and finally created a MySpace account, and the only reason was because my family was on there.  It was a way for me to get in touch with them.  I was on Facebook and  told them to jump over and to forget Facebook.  It took a couple of years for them to migrate over.  I don’t know what made them switch over, but they did.  Facebook now compared to 5 years ago is different, and I’m slowing seeing older family members and even younger ones joining now.  And I’m scared for them.  Facebook to me is a a very powerful tool that can be compared to a lighter or a power drill.  If you don’t know how to use it, it will hurt you.

This summer, I will be investigating other alternatives to Facebook.  It is a damn chore to check back every other day to make sure your settings are intact and learn where stuff has moved to.

So Facebook, what the hell are YOU doing?
