My husband and I live at this townhouse and it’s great BUT it’s a tad expensive. So we are looking to move. It’s hard. We have three cats and I’m looking for a place that will bring me a peace of mind. The options are slim. I’m worried and scared.

Uncluttering! (Stage 1)
Alright making an attempt to get rid of stuff. It’s not going to be easy. My first step is this crate of handouts and notes from these classes that I took in college. These classes had a profound influence on me.
- Race and Ethnicity – tossed!
- Asian Theatre – threw away all except for the handouts that I used for my paper on Vietnamese theatre.
- Intro to Philosophy – keep. I will need to scan these in.
- Chinese Philosophy – purged some. Kept those that are important.
- Graphic Design – tossed!
- Misc Folder (Music 100 and some more Race and Ethnicity) – tossed all EXCEPT for the U.S Constitution.
Cardboard box – these have documents from my Elementary/Middle/High School days
- Elementary School (1992) – poems
- Middle School
- Essential Skills
- Found a Murphy-Meisgeier Test
- E – 46
- N – 77
- F – 76
- P – 83
- I am a Right Brain
- Found a Murphy-Meisgeier Test
- As I opened the folders containing docs from my Middle Schools, I smile at the marks I made. Seeing how my handwriting was back then and remembering flashes of when I was younger.
- Valentine Day Cards
- A response letter that I wrote to the author Dian Curtis Regan. She wrote the book “My Zombie Valentine”.
- I decided to keep these for now. I will make a Mixed Media piece out of the documents.
- Essential Skills
- High School – French – tossed
Do you know me?
Do you know me? Do you really really know me? Do I even know myself? Who am I? Is there even a part of me, that is truly real…that is truly me?
Or am I a fake? A chameleon ever changing my nature to best suit my environment. Putting on a front…a facade…a mask. Trying to protect myself from not only others but…from myself.
The haters have come back and a battle has begun. It’s a tug of war between two sides. Light and dark. Good and bad. Who will win the war? No one. This war is never ending.
There will always be a constant struggle.
So true.
On the search
So the husband and I are looking to move into a cheaper place. The place we are currently at is too expensive and even though everything is great (cool neighbors, maintenace is responsive) we just can’t simply afford it anymore. We are trying to save money for our future. I have been scouring websites and ads for places. I know what I am looking for but damn is it hard. The fact that we have cats slims the prospects down even the nice ones that we can afford.
People ask “Why not buy and get that tax credit?” I look at them and say “We are not ready for that commitment.” And I get “oh-come-on-you-get-major-tax-credit” look. And your point is?!?! And people wonder why America has money problems. Sheesh!
I’ve been checking out craigslist a lot. It’s a hit or miss with some of ads. I’m quite amused when people don’t respond to the questions I ask and try to get me to go to a website and sign up for something.
ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?
I can’t help but wonder who has fallen for this trap. I’m tempted to write back and say “Do I look stupid to you?” I don’t understand why people give such vague posts and do not include pictures. I don’t want to waste your time or my time, so please people be detailed as best as you can. This should be the format:
- Price
- Bedrooms
- Bath
- Utilities (what is/isn’t included – ex. trash, water, gas, electric)
- Maintenance (Who mows/shovel?)
- Pets? If so, any deposit or extra fee
- Parking – off street?
- Laundry – is there hookups or do you provide
- Location (don’t have to give a direct address, but a cross section would be nice)
- Pictures
Is it so DAMN HARD? If you can’t tell, I’m aggravated. My current frame of mind is best summed up by this:
“I’M MAD AS HELL AND I’M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!”
